On July 31, 1918, he boarded the USS SIBONEY in HOBOKEN (New Jersey, USA), heading for France, with his company and companies D and F of his regiment, of the 131st artillery regiment, of a part of the 321st Worker Battalion, the 313th and 329th Baker Companies and the 61st Artillery Regimental Staff Brigade, for a total of 3,497 personnel on board
Comme beaucoup d’hommes, il est atteint de la grippe espagnole et décède officiellement de pneumonie, le 17 septembre 1918, à 22h00, à l’hôpital mixte de SENS. D’abord enterré à SENS, son corps est exhumé pour le port d’ANVERS (Belgique) le 4 janvier 1922 et y arrive douze jours plus tard. Transféré 3 février 1922 pour HOBOKEN (New Jersey, USA) à bord de l’USS CANTIGNY, il y arrive le 14 février et pour son dernier voyage du 20 au 21 février direction INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana, USA). Il est enterré à INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana, USA) au cimetière « Crown Hill Cemetery ».
Like many men, he suffered from the Spanish flu and officially died of pneumonia on September 17, 1918, at 10 p.m., at the SENS mixed hospital. First buried in SENS, his body was exhumed for the port of ANTWERP (Belgium) on January 4, 1922 and arrived there twelve days later. Transferred on February 3, 1922 to HOBOKEN (New Jersey, USA) aboard the USS CANTIGNY, he arrived there on February 14 and for his last trip from February 20 to 21 towards INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana, USA). He is buried in INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana, USA) at the “Crown Hill Cemetery”.
